What could be better than a visit to historical Annapolis MD? The lovely accommodations the VRBO Bear found in this charming apartment in Eastport! This home has been completely renovated and was a cozy retreat at the end of the day.
The purpose of our visit was to attend the First Class Parents' Weekend at the US Naval Academy. This bear's friends have a son at the Academy, and the apartment was in a perfect location for the weekend's festivities. There are restaurants and quaint stores all around this location, with a Ruth's Chris Steak house right down the street! We walked to the Academy on the first morning, crossing the bridge over Spa Creek and enjoying the sights of the marina - boats, homes and businesses along the way. In the evening, we enjoyed the ride on the water taxi that dropped us off just a few blocks from the apartment.
The apartment was a delight, with every comfort a bear could desire. The bed with its luxurious linens were so comfortable, I could have hibernated all weekend! The kitchen was stocked with any item I might have needed, and the living room was inviting with a comfortable sofa and TV. If you are a bear who needs to stay "connected," there is even wireless Internet available.
Our hostess, Joanne, is an artist, and there are many pieces of her work displayed throughout the apartment, including charming painted furniture and beautiful artwork on the walls. She even has a small gallery of her work in her home, which is attached to the apartment. You can tell that every detail was lovingly appointed with a generous spirit.
Eastport is just over the Spa Creek Bridge, a short walk from Annapolis or a 3 minute water taxi ride to the Chart house, originally the home to the Trumpe boat builders. There, you can sit overlooking the creek in their lounge and enjoy their avocado crab stacker and a cocktail. Eastport is the home of at least ten restaurants and local pubs including Leeward Market, Davis's Pub and the Boat Yard. Eastport has kayak rentals, a pirate ship ride for kids, sailing gear shops, and an American Landscape Gallery.
Everything you could want is within walking distance in Annapolis, a beautiful historic town with brick buildings located on the Chesapeake Bay. Annapolis features a city dock area that is surrounded with restaurants such as Pussers, which offers great waterfront dining. Other city dock attractions include: Armadillo's Restaurant, Italian Gelato Shop, and The Woodwind- a charter sailing schooner. Main Street has many cute shops and restaurants. It leads up to the State Circle area, home of the Capitol Building, where costumed tours are conducted.
