Magical Marco Island

Of Florida’s 10,000 islands, Marco Islandis the largest and most northern. Four miles wide by six miles long, it sits 15 miles southeast of Naples, and 100 miles west of Miami. There are two bridges that link Marco Island to the Florida mainland: the Judge Jolly Bridge, and the Goodland Bridge.

Marco Island is home to approximately 14,000 year-round residents. That number swells to over 30,000 from January through March, thanks in large part to the dependable sunshine and warm temperatures during this period.

The island, or as some people call it “Marco,” is a relaxing escape, a place with a sleepy, upscale beachfront. Its crescent-shaped beach is ideal for everyone in the family – from sand castle builders, to shell collectors, and swimmers of all levels.

Surrounded by miles of untouched, uninhabited islands, bays, and creeks, Marco Island is also a boating and fishing paradise. The Gulf water temperatures range from the low 60's in the winter to the high 80's in the summer and fall, making it an ideal place for fishing and fly fishing from fall through winter.

Lose yourself in Marco Island’s disappearing scrublands at the Briggs Nature Center on Shell Island Road. Operated by the Conservancy of Southwest Florida, the park is part of the Rookery Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve.

At the Briggs Nature Center, you can take a self-guided canoe trail (canoes are for rent Tuesday through Saturday mornings), or embark on a nature excursion with a ranger. If you’re lucky, perhaps you’ll even see one of several threatened island species, including a scrub jay or a gopher tortoise.

Relax with Us... Luxury Waterfront Home, Private Pool & Dock - Property 98498

  • Marco Island is the best-kept secret in Florida.
  • I look forward to vacations with my family so we can enjoy the beautiful parks which are so kid-friendly, and the natural habitat that is so profound surrounding the island.
  • A day does not pass without a visit from a dolphin that has chosen to frolic nearby, or a manatee that has lumbered into the channel.
  • As my children get older, our main mode of transportation has gone from car to bike. You can ride a bike to almost any location on the island. We especially enjoy riding to the beach at sunset, playing in the water, building sand castles, and hunting for special seashells.

Beautiful Water-Front Home, Newly Furnished and Fully Equipped - Property 4353

  • Our house is an excellent vacation place for your entire family, from old to young - and including the family pet. Everyone can enjoy the huge lower level game room, with pool table, ping-pong table, foosball table, and gas barbecue grill, right next to the pool.
  • Public beaches including Tiger Tail and South Beach are easily accessible. (Our favorite is South Beach, with more direct gulf exposure and close proximity to the house.)
  • For the fishermen, there have been some pretty good catches right off our dock. We also have a boatlift that can handle 10,000 pound x 10 widths. Local marinas are close by to rent a boat, or you can bring your own. The canal system provides easy access to the south end of the island. From there you enter the area of “10,000 Islands.”
  • We are centrally located on residential streets. We are only three blocks from the YMCA, and close to a large grocery store and shopping area.
